Free masks will be made available by the Central Michigan District Health Department over the next week.

Emergency Preparedness Coordinator and Public Information Officer for the health department Melissa DeRoche said the masks are part of the My Mask Aid Partnership announced last month.

“The goal of the My Mask Aid is to ensure that all residents have a face mask or face covering and that cost and availability of masks are not a barrier,” she said.

DeRoche said one mask will be available for each household member, while supplies last. She said the hopes are to hand out all free masks to the community.

The masks will be distributed at the health department’s six branch offices.
