More COVID-19 testing is available in Northwest Lower Michigan, even for those without symptoms.

Increased testing started late last week. and out of the 22 positive COVID-19 tests from today [Monday], 14 had no symptoms.

That’s according to Northwest Michigan Health Services, Inc. and the Benzie-Leelanau Health Department.

Gwen Williams... with Northwest Michigan Health … didn’t give the exact number of tests available... but says there are more than enough.

“We have the availability of these testing supplies and it's really important for public health to know where the disease process is. So we are encouraging people who don’t have symptoms to come and get tested.”

She expects positive cases to go up with more testing.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19, you are still being asked to contact your doctor before setting an appointment for a test.

But if you don’t have symptoms and want to be tested… you just need to call the COVID testing hotline for an appointment at 231-642-5292.
