MDHHS hosting behavioral health system forums

Michigan is looking for feedback on a plan to strengthen mental health services under the medicaid program.

Under the current medicaid system, patients have to use separate plans for physical and behavioral services.

The proposed changes would streamline the process to create one integrated plan... making it easier for people to access services.

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Spokesperson, Lynn Sutfin, said the state is looking for feedback.

“We want to build a system that best meets the needs of the residents who rely on these services, so we want to hear from them. What’s the good, the bad, the ugly?”

Sutfin said MDHHS will host forums in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Marquette, and Saginaw as well as online. Public comments will also be accepted by email.

The new integrated health plan is expected to be released in 2022.
