The state approved the use of medical marijuana for cerebral palsy this week.
Doctors will now be able to prescribe medical marijuana as a treatment for the movement disorder.
David Harns is with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. He said the review panel unanimously approved the use of Marijuana for treating cerebral palsy.
“You will now be able to get a medical marijuana card here in Michigan if your doctor puts that on the form and identifies that as a condition that you suffer from and need medical Marijuana relief.”
Harns said Michigan residents petitioned for the change.
Another petition, to use of marijuana to treat chronic aggressive behavior, was denied.
Harns said residents should work to get their medical marijuana cards through the state rather than a third party.
