Summer in Michigan could start to cool off

Michiganders might have the hottest summer days behind them, with forecasts for the rest of July and August showing somewhat cooler temperatures.

After above average temperatures reaching the upper 90’s in parts of the state, even 80 degree weather will seem cooler to some people.

Aaron Mayhew is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Gaylord.

“We really had a weird winter up here too, through the first two weeks of April we picked up like 35 inches of snow. A little bit of a weird year this year with kind of a late blooming winter and a pretty warm start to summer it’s certainly one of the warmer ones I remember but you know it can happen now and then, certainly not common.”

Mayhew said Michigan is always a bit of a wild card, but people can expect cooler temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s through much of the rest of the summer.
