The old adage says April showers bring May flowers, but this year the saying could become April snow it’s time to go!

This year’s April snowfall is breaking records but meteorologists say we may see spring weather soon.

While this winter was a harsh one, it was April that brought on record setting snow.

Scott Rozanski is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. He said snowfall in the Sault Ste. Marie area reached 27 inches this month.

“Which is the highest monthly ever April snowfall for that area, the next highest is 25.8 inches and that was in 1982 so you have to all the way back to 1982 to get an April this snowy.”

Rozanski said harsh winters can contribute to cooler springs and summers, so it’s possible to see a cooler summer this year.
