2017 will be bowing out to 2018 Sunday into Monday. However a change to the calendar won’t be reflected in the weather.

Temperatures are expected to remain cold through the weekend and into the new year.

Meteorologists say we’re not likely to see a moderation in temperatures until the middle of January.

Andy Sullivan is with the National Weather Service office in Gaylord.

“There have been just a small handful of record low temperatures across northern Michigan, for the most part it’s been much colder but there haven’t been a lot of records set.”

Sullivan said most of the snowfall in the first couple weeks of 2018 will be near the Great Lakes. He said inland areas could see snow, but likely nothing major.
