Nestle appeals permit denial to pump more water

Nestle’s efforts to increase water withdrawals in Osceola county are headed back to the courts. This time the company has appealed a building permit that was denied by local officials.

The permit would have allowed Nestle to build a new pump station in Osceola County.

The new facility would allow Nestle to pump 400 gallons of water per minute. They say they currently pump roughly 200 gallons per minute.

The permit was denied by the Osceola Township Planning Commission last month. Nestle appealed the decision last week.

In the meantime, Nestle’s application with the state for increased water withdrawals is still pending. A timeline for the decision has not yet been released.
