A northern Michigan library is sharing virtual storytime kits to help kids across the state and nation have access to new books and activities.
The virtual storytime kits contain links to a read-aloud videos and many activities parents can use to keep developing literacy skills at home.
Sara Grochowski is with the Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library, she created the program. She said just because the library’s doors are closed, it doesn’t mean they are stopping services.
“Thinking of libraries as a place of curation, in a way this is just continuing this idea - curating resources that are out there available to already and giving parents something in one ready-made bundle to just use.”
Grochowski said nonprofits and libraries across the country have been sharing virtual storytime kits through social media
The library posts a new storytime kit every weekday morning on its Facebook page.
