Saginaw Valley State University to unveil $25-million expansion to College of Business

Saginaw Future Inc.

Saginaw Valley State University is expected to unveil a new, $25-million College of Business on Monday.

The roughly 38-thousand foot expansion builds on the existing Scott L. Carmona College of Business.

College Dean Tony Bowrin said the expansion includes upgrades to facilities and technology.

“Really really similar to what you find in the banking industry, on wall street, Dow Chemical, and other major companies so our students are going to be able to graduate totally familiar in the environment that they are going to be working.”

The expansion includes state of the art labs, Bloomberg Trading terminals, and other equipment found at Fortune 500 companies.

“It’s not a new building,” Bowrin said. “But it’s a huge project and it totally transforms our ability to deliver to our students.”

Bowrin said the expansion will help attract more businesses to hire their students.

“We already have some of those relationships and those relationships are going to be expanded.”

The $25-million expansion was funded through a $15-million fundraising campaign and $10-million in state support.

The college won’t fully transition into the building until the Fall semester.
