The issue of  immigration will be front and center at an event at CMU Monday night.

The Speak Up, Speak Out series gives people the opportunity to join in a topical discussion.

Tonight’s discussion is titled Immigration and What It Means in the USA. A panel of students, faculty, and community members will help guide the discussion.

David Jesuit is a professor and chairperson of the department of political science and public administration.

“There will be a Michigan perspective, a Mount Pleasant perspective. Immigration is so vital for example to a University with respect to the number of faculty experts, the faculty that are here on visa’s they’re immigrants to this country, the students who come here to study.”

Jesuit says the direction of the discussion depends on whoever is present;  asking questions and sharing their knowledge.
