Business expansion to create over 500 jobs in Evart

Lume Cannabis Co

Lume Cannabis announced a new four-phase expansion plan to grow its cultivation facility in Evart, in turn, creating jobs.

The four-phase plan is expected to begin this month and with hopes of completion in 2024. Each phase of the plan is expected to create 130 new jobs, totalling 520 jobs at completion.

President and COO of Lume Cannabis Doug Hellyar said the expansion will help grow the company.

Currently the company produces enough product for 20 stores. The first phase will increase their production capacity by 150 percent, allowing them to have enough product to support 50 stores.

“Our goal has always been to be Michigan’s leading cannabis operator,” Hellyar said. “We developed an aggressive business plan that included a rapid growth plan to open 100 stores across the state in five years, create jobs in our community and help grow the local economy. Strengthening our supply chain and increasing our production capacity are critical to our ability to achieve this goal.”

He said the expansion will run “full gamut” of jobs that they currently have, just at a higher volume.
