Hair salons opened Monday after nearly three-months of being closed due to coronavirus shut downs. However, many are working with new procedures including fewer clients and longer work hours.

Whitney Oglenski, owner of Kastle Salon and Spa in Bad Axe, said they require all employees to wear a mask and highly recommend clients do as well.

“We had shields put up so that there’s less face to face contact on top of having the masks on,” she said. “We disinfect everything in between each client including the front desk.”

Oglenski said she and her stylists had a meeting prior to opening. She said they all said they  were comfortable coming back to work.

“We feel pretty good, we have a pretty open salon, so that’s really nice cause we’re able to stay away from each other as we’re working on clients.”

Oglenski said clients have been understanding of the transition and patient with rescheduling. She said the pace has worked so far,  and she’s hopeful it will continue to in the foreseeable future.
