Dow Chemical’s longtime CEO will retire this year. During his more than a decade at the helm of Midland-based Dow Chemical Andrew Liveris guided the chemical industry giant through the Great Recession and a merger with rival DuPont.

Liveris says now that the merged Dow-DuPont is preparing to enter into a new phase, which will see the company split into three separate companies, it’s “the right time” to retire.

Liveris has planned to retire last year, but delayed until the company named a successor.   Jeff Fettig has been picked to succeed Liveris as executive chairman.

Liveris will give up his executive chairmanship at Dow-DuPont in April, and his role as director in July, when he officially retires.
