Meteorologists predict this winter will see temperatures at or below average. Energy experts said it’s a good time to remind homeowners that winterizing homes can save a lot of money on utility bills.
Organizations across the state say low income families can save on average more than $400 a year by winterizing their homes.
Dan Petersen is the President of Eight CAP. He said national studies have shown how proper weatherization can affect a family's economic standing, health, and safety.
“We hear it first hand from individuals whose utility bills just are more reasonable. We’ve heard anywhere from 10% savings to some as high as 30% on their monthly utility costs”.
Petersen said his organization most often helps with installing new insulation in attics, walls, and basements.
