Two men charged with homicides of Alpena woman and teenager

The Michigan Attorney General’s Office announced Wednesday that two men will be charged for two murders committed a year ago in Alpena.

Officials said the men will face charges including first degree premeditated murder and disinterment and mutilation of a dead body.

Attorney General Dana Nessel said an investigation into the disappearance of 17-year-old Brynn Bills began in August of 2021.

“We believe Brynn was killed with premeditation and deliberation brought by Brad Srebnik, and her body was buried in the backyard of Joshua Wirgau’s home shortly after she was last seen alive.”

Nessel says the second victim, 34-year-old Abby Hill, was murdered by Srebnik and Wirgau because they believed she would reveal information about the murder of Bills.

Officials have not said how the defendants may have known the first victim.

“Because this is an open case, we are limited in the details that we can share,” Nessel said. “The public will learn more about this case as detailed information about the crimes is revealed through the court process.”

Nessel said the defendants are currently in prison on unrelated charges. They are expected to be formally arraigned for the Alpena murders on Thursday.
