Democratic incumbent Haley Stevens will once again represent Michigan’s 11th Congressional District.
Stevens was leading Republican challenger Mark Ambrose with 61.2% of the vote, as of 6:40am Wednesday morning.
Stevens spoke to supporters at the 5th Avenue bar in Royal Oak Tuesday night, shortly after the Associated Press called her as the winner.
“I’m just gonna tell y’all it feels good to be a Democrat from Oakland County," she said. "And the Stevens train is roaring back to D.C. yet again.”
“I'm not there chasing media hits, or chase chasing the cycle of muddy media fame elections. It's about rolling up your sleeves and doing the work of actual people in, within your communities,” Stevens told radio station WDET following her victory speech.
Stevens was first elected to Michigan’s 11th District in 2018, flipping it from red to blue. The newly redrawn district covers large parts of Oakland County, running from Ferndale to Pontiac.
