The UP Energy Task Force announced today that it will hold listening sessions to hear from the public about what they want the task force to address.

This was the second ever task force meeting.  Governor Gretchen Whitmer formed the group in June to look at energy rates rates and alternatives to the Line 5 pipeline for bringing propane to the UP.

Jill Greenberg is with the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.

“Hearing directly from the Upper Peninsula residents is critical to the work that the UP Energy Task Force is conducting,” she said.

The task force scheduled three listening sessions, one in September, October, and November with a tentative session scheduled for December. Locations for the sessions have yet to be determined.

Greenberg said the listening sessions won’t be structured around the Line 5 issue. Citizens are encouraged to come and talk about any energy related concerns they may have.
