On Tuesday, the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs proposed several new rules for patients and caregivers.

They include cutting the application fee from 60 to 40 dollars and simplifying paperwork for medical marijuana cards.

David Martin is a medical marijuana caregiver.

He says the old fees and rules used to scare off caregivers and patients.

“In the past the paperwork has taken like 8 weeks to go through for a caregiver and patient to be … signed on together”

The state will hold a public hearing in the next few months before certifying the changes.
