The state House just passed a bill to let people register to vote online.

The bills now head to the state Senate – which sent similar legislation to the House earlier this year.

Merissa Kovach is a policy strategist with the A-C-L-U of Michigan. She says online registration would help modernize Michigan’s election process.

“It has the potential to make voting more accessible, secure and accurate.”

Kovach says because a person can type in their own personal information, it will cause less errors on the voting rolls – and that will in turn make Election Day easier.
