Michigan is receiving new state of the art voting equipment, just in time for fall elections.
Michigan used 30 million dollars in federal funding and contributed another ten million of its own for the new equipment.
Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is in charge of elections in MIchigan. She said the files used to verify voters have also been improved.
“They’re not just updated and secure but we also did the same thing with our qualified voter file and we have got a new file that we will be using in all the communities that is secure, it’s convenient, efficient system, and I think you’ll see the lines go a little faster with everything that we’ve done.”
Johnson said by this fall, Michigan will have some of the newest and most secure voting equipment in the country.
