The Michigan ACLU wants a suburban Detroit public school to get rid of its ban on political signs at student protests.

The ban was imposed by the principal of Utica Academy for International Studies on students who took part in the March 14th National Student Walkout.

The ACLU says several students were suspended for violating the ban.

And it says the ban violates students' right to political expression.

School officials declined a request for an interview or to answer whether the school will lift the ban.
