A bill that expands access to craft beer in the Michigan has been signed by the governor.

Previously, craft beer could not be sold by locations with a Beer and Wine license. It instead required a liquor license.

Republican State Representative and restaurant owner Tommy Brann sponsored legislation changing that rule.

“Growlers and craft beers are so popular in the state of Michigan, and so I worked on this bill and got it passed through the house and senate and the governor signed it, so it’s a law.”

Brann said waiting for a liquor license can take a year in some cases, so being able to sell craft beer without one saves time and money.

Governor Snyder signed the bill changing the rules in late-February.
