Juneteenth is now recognized as a federal holiday.  In conjunction with the observance this year, and the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre, a new work for mezzo-soprano and chamber orchestra will be premiered June 19 by The Harlem Chamber Players.  Poet Herbert Woodward Martin wrote the libretto for the piece.  He spoke with Mosaic host David Nicholas this week about the collaboration with composer Adolphus Hailstork.

The concert by The Harlem Chamber Players, including Pity These Ashes, will be presented online June 19 at 7pm.  New York Public Radio and station WQXR will be offered through The Green Space.  The link is https://thegreenespace.org/
