A deadline is looming for the city of Flint’s pipe replacement program.

A federal judge has given the city of Flint until August first to complete service line inspections and replace lead or galvanized pipes. It was part of a legal settlement between the city and Flint residents.

Tuesday, Mayor Sheldon Neeley said the project is on track, “We’re on track to complete all requirements of the settlement by August 1st. We’re on track. We only have less than 20 lines to complete."

Attorneys for the plaintiffs say they haven’t seen evidence yet the city is close to completing all required excavations and replacements by August 1.

Meanwhile, a federal judge is considering whether to hold Flint and its mayor in contempt for failing to meet other deadlines
