Construction work on the Gordie Howe International Bridge continues.

Heather Grondin is spokesperson for the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority. She says one sign of noticeable progress is the installation of cables running between the towers and the bridge deck.

“When the bridge is completed there will be 218 stay-cables installed… 108 from each tower.  And right now we’re at about 30 stay-cables on both sides have now been installed.” said Grondin.

Grondin says construction crews on both sides of the Detroit River are working towards the bridge’s scheduled opening date in late 2024.
