Memorial Day marks the start of the summer travel season. AAA predicts an increase in Michiganders on the roads and airways this Memorial Day weekend.
AAA anticipates more than 1.2 million Michiganders will travel over 50 miles this Memorial Day weekend.
Adrienne Woodland, a spokesperson for AAA, said 1.1 million of those travelers will hit the roadways.
“You want to expect busy roadways if you're planning to drive. One of the busiest times will be Friday, May 26, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 6:00p.m. If you can leave before twelve noon, you could possibly miss some of that traffic.”
Woodland says Michigan travel numbers this summer are set to reach the third highest overall, just behind 2018 and 2019.
