A northern Michigan man is being charged with a hate crime and threat of terrorism after making alleged threats to the Montmorency County 911 dispatch office.
According to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, Gregory Simms allegedly placed threatening phone calls to dispatchers after he learned there was a warrant out for his arrest in Saginaw County.
During his three phone calls, Simms allegedly told the dispatcher that he was going to send any “pigs” who attempted to arrest him away in body bags.
In a statement, Nessel said threats to public service workers require serious charges to pursue accountability and maintain public safety.
Simms was placed on a $250,000 bond and was determined by the court to be a flight risk.
