For the third time in a week, law enforcement officials have investigated threatening messages from students at Alpena Public Schools. None of the threats resulted in violence.
At the end of the school day Monday, a student reported a threatening message was written on a bathroom stall in Besser Elementary.
The Alpena Police Department and Michigan State Police conducted an investigation and quickly identified a student suspect.
This latest incident comes on the heels of violent threats last week at Alpena High School and Thunder Bay Junior High School.
Eric Hamp, Chief of the Alpena Police Department, said his department takes every threat seriously.
"What I can say is the information that I have on all three of these threats that came in from three different schools, is once we were done investigating them, none of them were deemed to be legitimate threats," said Hamp.
School continued Tuesday morning at Besser Elementary with the presence of officers and a police car on site.
Hamp says all of the threats have been turned over to the Alpena County prosecutor’s office.
