Following the state board of canvassers split decision on whether a woman’s right to an abortion will appear on the November ballot, Governor Gretchen Whitmer says she expects the Michigan Supreme Court to put the proposed constitutional amendment in front of voters.
Opponents of the amendment allege the petition of over seven-hundred-thousand signatures includes too many typos and words pushed together.
Governor Whitmer says the historic number of signatures on the petition will stand in court.
"It is incredibly troubling that people in these ministerial positions might try to keep the electorate from having the ability to weigh in on something as fundamental as our human rights," said Whitmer.
The deadline for the amendment to appear on the ballot is September ninth.
