Production of Ford's F-150 Lightning E-V began today

First non-native CEO of an American car company, launched initiative to simply Ford's Global production. Was created a life peer by Queen Elizabeth II.

Ford Motor Company began production of its all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck at its River Rouge assembly plant today.

“With the huge investments… 50 billion dollars in E-V’s… battery manufacturing… our expanded lineup which you have not seen yet – we plan to challenge Tesla and all comers to become the top E-V maker in the world.” said Jim Farley, President and CEO of Ford. Speaking during a launch event at the Dearborn factory he reiterated the automaker’s electric vehicle goals.

General Motors is currently working on an all-electric version of its Chevrolet Silverado which is expected to be a direct competitor to Ford’s Lightning. G-M expects to launch that vehicle next year.
