A group of Democratic state lawmakers has introduced a bill package to repeal Michigan’s anti-abortion laws.
Demonstrators in the state House gallery urged lawmakers to protect the right to abortion in Michigan.
But Democratic state Senator Erika Geiss says Republican leadership is unlikely to bring the bills up for a vote.
“Residents, our bosses, should be pushing on us for getting these bills heard and passed and advocating for getting these bills heard and passed.”
The U.S. Supreme Court is hearing arguments in a case that could overturn its “Roe V. Wade” decision.
If that happens, Michigan’s anti-abortion laws would once again take effect.
