GRPD - Body found in the Grand River

Grand Rapids Police are investigating a death on the city’s Northwest Side, after recovering a body from the Grand River.

The Grand Rapids Emergency Communications Center received a call about a body in the Grand River, around 8:30 am on Monday. Grand Rapids Police Officers responded to the 1100 block of Front Avenue NW and requested assistance from the Grand Rapids Fire Department River Rescue. A body was ultimately recovered from the river and transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner. Grand Rapids Police are currently investigating.

No additional information is available at this time. Identification, as well as the cause and manner of death, is pending the results of an autopsy.
