An East Tawas man pleaded guilty Wednesday in the death of a 16-year-old last August.

Officials say Mark Elliott hit 16-year-old Dohnovan Newcome with his truck while the teen rode his bicycle in Iosco County.

Elliott pleaded guilty to the charge of a moving violation causing death, a one-year misdemeanor.

Attorney General Dana Nessel says the plea “avoids a drawn-out trial.”

Elliott will be sentenced August 12.
