President Joe Biden told a crowd at a Ford plant in Dearborn on Tuesday as the nation faces an inflection point for either leading or falling behind in the race for new technology.

The president spoke at the plant where Ford plans to produce a new electric version of its popular F-150 pickup truck.

Biden’s calling for a significant investment in electric charging stations, research and customer incentives, part of his two trillion-dollar jobs and infrastructure proposal.

He says electric vehicles are key to creating an economy based on cleaner-burning fuels, which he argues will also grow the nation’s workforce.

“Bottom line, American jobs plan is a blue-collar blueprint to build America. A BLUE-collar blueprint.”

Biden pledges that the electric vehicle supply chain will be dominated by U.S. companies employing union workers, a key constituency for the president’s political coalition.
