Today’s [Monday] the deadline for people to register for the massive Flint water crisis master settlement.
Attorneys say they have seen a crush of people in the last week wanting to opt-in or opt-out of the 641 million dollar settlement.
A federal judge on Friday denied a request to extend the deadline to give people more to time to register and file objections to the settlement.
The state of Michigan is putting up 600 million dollars of the settlement. Money is also coming from the city of Flint and two local businesses.
The money will be divided among children exposed to high lead levels in Flint’s drinking water and adults who suffered health issues and property damage.
A federal judge must still give final approval to the settlement and decide how much of the settlement should be paid out to lawyers.
