Michigan continues to chug along in the goal to vaccinate 70% of the state’s adult population.

Like most of the country, Michigan has suffered from a shortage of available doses.

Chief Medical Executive Doctor Joneigh Khaldun says progress is being made.

“About 14% of Michiganders have received at least one dose and over 514,000 people are fully vaccinated over half a million people,” said Khaldun.

Most of those vaccinated are either health care workers or senior citizens. Health officials say they want to vaccinate 50-thousand people per day, but that benchmark has only been reached a couple of times.
