Former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm appeared before a Senate committee today as President Joe Biden’s nominee for Secretary of Energy.

Her opening statement focused on her push toward clean energy technologies when she was Governor. Granholm says we can buy technologies like electric car batteries from Asia or make them in America.

“We can allow other countries to corner the market on carbon reduction technologies like carbon capture, utilization and storage, or we can put our workers in good paying jobs manufacturing and installing those solutions in America, and we can export them all as well.”

Senate confirmation of Granholm’s nomination is considered likely.
