A former University of Michigan music professor was arrested this [THURSDAY] morning at his home in Ann Arbor. Stephen Shipps is facing charges of transporting a minor girl across state lines for sex.

In 2018, a bombshell investigation by the Michigan Daily exposed years of sexual misconduct allegations against Stephen Shipps.

Shipps was put on leave in December of 2018, and officially retired from the University the next year.

US Attorney Matthew Schneider says the charges against Shipps involve alleged crimes from 2002.

"Because Professor Shipps had such a broad reach across the globe, we want to make sure if there are other victims of crime out there, we want them to come forward," said Schneider.

Shipps' attorney didn't immediately respond to request for comment.
