Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says more than three million Michigan voters have requested and received absentee ballots, as of two weeks before Election Day.

Benson says more than half the requested absentee ballots have already been cast.

“The fact that the voters on all sides throughout the state are responding by requesting ballots and returning them early-  and our infrastructure is set up to make all that happen - is just an extraordinary success story,” said Benson.

Benson says the numbers underscore Michiganders' confidence in the integrity of the state's time-tested vote-by-mail system.

She urges voters who have not yet submitted absentee ballots to hand-deliver them to local clerk's offices or official ballot drop boxes.

That's to avoid possible postal delays.
