Michigan’s Attorney General’s office will investigate allegations against those behind a petition drive to strip Governor Gretchen Whitmer of her emergency powers.

This Friday, Unlock Michigan plans to deliver 500 thousand petition signatures calling to repeal the 1945 emergency powers law.

There are allegations the group may have engaged in criminal activity in collecting petition signatures.

A campaign spokesman calls the allegations “a smear” and says the investigation is “a partisan political farce.”
