Detroit Police Chief James Craig is taking criticism for his comments on protesters marching against police brutality.

Speaking on Fox News, Craig, without citing evidence, says ‘Black Lives Matter’ protesters are being funded by communist outsiders' intent on undermining the government.

“You know, they embed themselves in peaceful protests and frankly, they have another agenda and we know what that agenda is. And that is, I believe it's a Marxist ideology.”
Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and the ‘Detroit Will Breathe’ protest group ridiculed the comments.

Publicly, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan is refusing to condemn his police chief. In a statement to the Metro Times. Duggan spokesman John Roach says "The mayor thinks Chief Craig is doing a great job running the Detroit Police Department."
