Governor Gretchen Whitmer continues to urge the Trump Administration and Congress to act in order to help people affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking at a news conference this afternoon (WED) Whitmer says there needs to be a national plan to combat Covid-19.
“We really do need more leadership at the federal level to help us expand testing to ensure that everyone wears their mask while they're in public to support our frontline workers or small businesses to help support our kids and trying to get their education and so of course we can protect lives,” said Whitmer.
Whitmer said the state is launching 20 free neighborhood testing sites in coming weeks.
Contrary to news reports at other outlets the governor did not announce the reopening of gyms and movie theaters.
With the exception of theaters and fitness centers in the northern lower peninsula and the U-P, those businesses have been closed since March.
