The Trump campaign says two top officials with ties to Michigan will address the delegates at this week’s Republican National Convention.

Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel took the reins of the national party after President Trump won Michigan in 2016.

McDaniel who resides in Northville was the state party chair at the time.

After he took office Trump tapped Detroit native Ben Carson head the U-S Housing and Urban Development department.

Both Carson and McDaniel are scheduled to speak at the national convention.

Michigan continues to be seen as a battleground state in the current presidential election.

Vice President Mike Pence is set to campaign in Traverse City the day after the national convention finishes.
