Utility crews are working to restore electricity around the Detroit area after severe storms knocked-out power to more than 100-thousand customers yesterday (Sun.)
The storms hit as the region was in the midst of a scorching heat wave.
The storms swept across Metro Detroit with strong winds toppling trees and power lines.
About 120-thousand customers lost power initially.
But the storms also seemed to break the blazing hot weather that had enveloped the region for days.
Forecasts now call for temperatures in the mid to upper 80’s and far less humidity.
It's been a challenging summer for weather in Michigan.
A month ago a string of thunderstorms with wind gusts reaching almost 80 miles an hour known as a derecho marched across the state flipping semi-trucks and knocking over street lights.
