High School fall sports have been green lit to go on as usual this fall.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association announced Friday that fall sports will at least begin as traditionally scheduled. The group has what it calls contingency concepts for potential interruptions due to COVID-19.

In a written release, the association said Michigan schools should move with a plan for fall sports to be started and played as scheduled. However, the start of some or all fall sports could be delayed. If all fall sports must be suspended, they will be rescheduled after winter sports. The conclusion of fall and spring seasons could potentially reach into next summer.

The association said it will release COVID-related policies as the season approaches.

Currently, high school football practices are scheduled to begin August 10, followed by other fall sports beginning August 12.
