A Traverse City glass company is switching from creating decorative glass pieces to producing sneeze guards to protect grocery store workers.

Glass makers said concerns about coronavirus have drastically changed how people view sneeze guards. Grocery stores across the state and the nation are installing the guards and more businesses are expected to follow.

Lesley Clous with Distinctive Glass in Traverse City said "When you think about where we are now and how much we’ve changed our views of the importance of guarding. You can imagine that any counter, anywhere, in any establishment where two humans have a transaction will likely need to be guarded.”

Clous said right now the majority of her orders are from grocery and convenience stores. She said after the stay-at-home order is lifted, she expects to see more businesses investing in partitions to keep employees and customers safe.
