Members of the United Auto Workers continue voting on a proposed contract with the Ford Motor Company Monday. The deadline to ratify the deal is the end of this week.

The tentative agreement offers many of the same features the UAW sought in its recent contract talks with G-M.

Ford will provide wage increases…bonus payments if the contract is signed and ratified…and a way forward for temporary workers with at least three years of experience to become full time employees by 2020.

It also caps the total number of temp workers Ford can hire…and prohibits outsourcing jobs or closing plants over the next four years.

But Ford will still be able to close its engine plant in Romeo.

The deal is getting mixed reviews.

At least a half dozen UAW locals have already approved it.

But a local representing five thousand workers in Chicago has voted against ratifying the contract.
