On Wednesday, Mayor Andy Schor recommended a 22-year veteran of the Lansing police department to be its next chief.

Mayor Schor selected Daryl Green as Lansing’s next police chief.

Green is the captain of the Patrol Division. He joined the department in 1997.

Green is also a Lieutenant in Naval Intelligence.

He holds a Ph-D in Public Administration from Western Michigan University and other degrees from Michigan State and Temple University.

The Police Board of Commissioners will review the appointment of Daryl Green on August 20th. If approved, he’ll be sworn in as police chief, replacing Mike Yankowski.
