A handful of communities throughout Michigan have been recognized for their efforts in fostering economic growth.
Communities were given four or five star designations for efforts in economic development and entrepreneurial growth.
Tim Davis is the director of iLabs at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, which designates the rating.
“Our team collects a variety of publicly available data from communities across the state, and what we do is we’re able to take that information and understand the places who’ve seen, over the past five years, the strongest growth in business development and community investment, while simultaneously controlling the costs of really doing business in town.”
Davis said the star rating is meant to give credit where credit is due, and recognize communities that work hard to foster economic growth.
He said 277 communities were considered.
Other four-star communities include Bay City, Owosso, and Traverse City.
